Hey y’all, we have been getting lots of love since the article in Style! Some great donations have come in so please stop by to check out the new stuff we’ve got or help sort stuff out! And keep the treasures coming to help us get through a slow winter!
Also, this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 16th, our hours will be temporarily bumped up to encourage participation in this awesome statewide event taking place–
We will be open from 11am-2pm, and will host a group ride to Abner Clay Park for anyone who needs to tune up beforehand. Make sure you get in early!
For any bikers out there who are interested, we are calling all hands to be a part of the ChainBreakers Bike Brigade, which will be a fun and innovative two- and three-wheeled element the march! For anyone who wants to help out and have fun, there will be an interest meeting this coming Tuesday at 5pm sharp here at Rag & Bones. You can find out more on the event page below, or contact us!
Come enjoy the lovely fall weather with us at a couple of events this month!
On November 2, in solidarity with the international Hands Off Assata Shakur Day, there will be a community screening of The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 at Rag & Bones Bicycle Co-op. It starts at 7:30pm! The event will be held outside in the parking lot, so please bring blankets, pillows, or chairs to keep yourself and others comfortable. Snacks are also recommended because they are delicious, Boone’s Food Bazaar at Sheppard and Park is a local market nearby. All are welcome!
The film examines the evolution of the Black Power Movement in the black community and Diaspora from 1967 to 1975. The film combines music, **startling** 16mm footage (lying undiscovered in the cellar of Swedish Television for 30 years), and contemporary audio interviews from leading African-American artists, activists, musicians and scholars.
On November 16 our shop will be participating in the March Against Mass incarceration! All information is on the flier below and the link leads to the WordPress, so check it out and join us! We will be on bicycles so feel free to ride yours, bring signs and banners and invite your friends!
As always, if you need tools or guidance to fix your ride come see us in the shop! Have a great fall!
