Youth Night
Every Tuesday is Youth Night at Rag & Bones. That means that we prioritize young folks who would like to learn about bike repair. While adults are still welcome to come and make purchases, we focus our time on helping youth receive free bikes and learning to use tools properly to do repairs in the shop.
We ask that youth have their guardian sign a form so that they can work with tools in the shop, learn repairs, and receive a free bike. If you have questions, please call or email us.
Kids Bikes
All kids bikes are free at Rag & Bones in exchange for one hour of help around the shop. Youth can help us sort things, work on little projects with us, or help us put tools away. They also help us refurbish the bike of their choice so that they learn about the tools, the shop, and how to fix it themselves if need be. Many of the young folks that receive bikes from us consistently visit the shop to repair their own bikes, becoming the next generation of do-it-yourself mechanics. Kids can receive one free bike per year. In the future, we’re hoping to provide locks with the bikes.

We redistribute dozens of kids bikes a year, many to young folks who visit the shop. We always need donations of kids bikes, so please bring us your gently used bikes during our open hours! If you are an adult looking for a bicycle for a child, please give us a call to see what we have available free. We also try to do a bike swap annually, where we will trade your kids bike up to the next size.
