WE’VE MOVED!

(Originally posted in December 2023)

Rag & Bones has finally completed our space move to 2916 North Avenue. The layout of the space is pictured above!! In the new space, we serve as your local non-profit bicycle education collective and we’ve expanded to include a community space in the front.  Read on to learn about our new space, programs, and how to get involved.

Rag & Bones provides near universal access to used bike parts and bicycles in Richmond. We do this with our open shop & sales, which will expand to include a few new necessities for the Northside neighborhood. We provide affordable refurbished bikes and used parts, and for adults who cannot afford a bicycle we have an Earn a Bike program. For kids in the shop, we have youth night, where young folks can fix bikes, volunteer for a free bike, and learn repairs. During the summer, we help run a youth camp called Camp Spokes. To learn repair in our shop in a more structured way, we’ll offer sliding scale workshops on a variety of bike topics. If you want Rag & Bones to join your community event, we have a mobile bike repair set up

In the community space, we have a small selection of rad books & zines for sale. Additionally, we host shows and events on weekends. During off hours, the space is available to use for community purposes.

We are a collective and a cooperative, and we survive on donations and community support. If you like what we’re doing, become a member and get perks in the space. We try to keep as much waste out of the world as possible, so if you have used bikes or books please donate them to us. We ask that you get in touch before you do so we can make sure we can use it. If you want to help us do all this stuff you can be a volunteer, there are café volunteers and bike mechanics always needed, as well as other talents you might have like media, design, and fundraising. If you want to buy us something, check out our wish list.

We are people who came together because we like passing things on and supporting each other and our community. This would not be possible without the many Richmonders who have helped with this space over the last decade, so thank you! We hope you’ll check out our new space and get involved! See you there.
